“American Idol” finale, 8-11 p.m., ABC. Last week, voters picked their final three Willie Spence, Grace Kinstler and Chayce Beckham. That ousted Casey Bishop, drawing surprise and complaints similar to when Chris Daughtry finished fourth, 15 years ago. Tonight, we’ll get music from nine finalists (one dropped out) … from the judges … and from Alessia Cara, Luke Combs, Sheryl Crow, Lindsey Buckingham, Mickey Guyton, Leona Lewis, Chaka Khan, Fall Out Boy and Macklemore.
“Billboard Music Awards,” 8-11 p.m., NBC. To complicate our lives, NBC throws this show against “Idol.” Nick Jonas hosts with a ton of performers. They include Pink, The Weeknd, Bad Bunny and Karol G, plus groups, old (Duran Duran) and newer (BTS, AJR, Glass Animals, Twenty One Pilots). Also, H.E.R. links with DJ Khaled and Migos. Drake gets the artist-of-the-decade award. He’s also up for artist of the year, alongside Taylor Swift, Pop Smoke, Juice Wrld and The Weeknd.
