MEADFA to outline industry recovery proposals in Advocacy Group webinar

MEADFA President Haitham Al Majali. The Middle East and Africa Duty Free Association (MEADFA) is to outline its proposals for the recovery of the industry in the region during an advocacy working group webinar on 29 March 2021 (3pm UAE time). Moderated by John Hume, Managing Partner, Hume Brophy, the hour-long session will be dedicated to the recovery of DF&TR in the Middle East and Africa from an advocacy perspective. A reported, MEADFA held its first virtual event on 7 October 2020, which revealed how the industry in the region is fighting against the impact of the pandemic. The webinar will feature presentations from Sarah Branquinho, President, Duty Free World Council, Rita Chidiac, Secretary General, MEADFA Advocacy Working Group and Alan Murray Hayden, Head of Airport, Passenger and Security Products, IATA.

Chidiac noted: “Under the guidance of MEADFA president Mr. Haitham Al Majali and the Board, we have set the objectives of our monthly regulatory intelligence sessions: firstly, to improve MEADFA’s engagement capacities, secondly to consolidate the cross-category approach, and thirdly to develop a flow of intelligence process.”

Consequently, Rita Chidiac, Advocacy Working Group, Secretary General, MEADFA recommends intensifying the flow of regulatory intelligence between MEADFA members (brands, landlords, retailers). This will help anticipate regulatory threats with a clear in partnership with the duty free industry.
