Coronation Street star Tracie Bennett is returning as Sharon Bentley after 22 years I am absolutely thrilled.
The character originally appeared between 1982 and 1984 before a return in 1999.
More than 20 years after her last appearance, Sharon will surprise Rita (Barbara Knox) when she shows up on the cobbles again. ITV
The pair fell out during the last time Sharon was in Weatherfield – after Sharon had planned to sell the Kabin – Rita forgives her foster daughter and gives her another chance, which does not impress Jenny Connor.
The reasons behind Sharon s return have yet to be revealed. Will Rita regret the decision to welcome her back?

“I had such an amazing time there and I am looking forward to working with Barbara again and getting my teeth into the storylines they have planned for Sharon,” she said.
“I was first approached about coming back about 18 months ago.
“I was keen and excited to see what was in store but my work schedule and then the pandemic has meant that it has taken until now for it all to come together.
“I am so pleased that I can finally tell everyone as it has been hard trying to keep the secret.”
