After co-founding and working with the experimental collective the Mummers Troupe, Mr. Brookes went on to distinguish himself as a maker of audio documentaries, winning a prestigious Peabody Award and a Prix Italia
Brookes was also a founding member of The Mummers Troupe in 1973, which founded the Resource Centre for the Arts in Newfoundland and Labrador and developed the LSPU Hall in St. John's as a marquee local performance space.
