A popular pilot who resided in Buckinghamshire has been remembered after a neighbourhood in a new property development has been named after him. Roy Bartman, who lived in what was then Belmore Hotel on the Risborough Road in Stoke Mandeville, flew for the Royal Air Force, before working for British Airways as well as various airlines in Africa. He sadly passed away two decades ago, but his legacy has lived on as the neighbourhood of ‘Roylands’, is now part of Kier Living’s Whitethorn Garden development. A highly respected local and pilot, Roy, turned Belmore into a successful business that became known as the Belmore Hotel and Ciao Bella restaurant.
