Fri, 02/05/2021 - 12:45pm Evelyn G. (Hustus) Heard. Evelyn Grace (Hustus) Heard, age 85, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2021. She was born on October 14, 1935 in Jackson, Maine. She graduated from Zion Bible Institute. Evelyn (Evie) loved her bountiful family fiercely and made everyone around her feel like family. She believed in and celebrated others triumphs, and would mourn others losses. Invested love, kindness, instilled wisdom and patience. Always listened to others earnestly. Loved people, unconditionally and purely. Was gentle, sweet, giving, caring. Her smile, laugh, and joy was contagious. Evelyn loved the Lord and attended Faith Temple Church of God. Spent much of her time reading Scripture, but more than reading it, she lived it. Showed love and grace to everyone she met. Was selfless and put others before herself. Would write cards and letters to those that were missing at church. Would call those who were hurting, struggling, or sick. Loved her coun

Fri, 01/22/2021 - 1:00pm Dana Merrill Whitten, M.D. Dana Merrill Whitten, M.D., 81, died on January 19, 2021 after a short illness. He served the children and parents of Waldo County, Maine for over forty years as a pediatrician, a calm and steady voice in times of need, and as a source of comfort. He was an athlete, a passionate sailor and gardener who loved to read, and was a pillar of his community. He will be greatly missed. Born October 28, 1939 in Amesbury, Massachusetts, Dana was the son of Dr. James Francis Whitten and Ernestine Merrill Whitten. Both parents were from Maine, his father from Farmington and his mother from Machias. Dana’s father served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in North Africa during World War II and returned from the war to serve the people of Amesbury as a physician.

Rebecca (Merry) Merrithew. BELFAST It is with broken hearts that we announce Rebecca (Merry) Merrithew, loving wife, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away unexpectedly at her residence on January 19, 2021 at the age of 61. Becky was born on March 9,1959 in Belfast to Elwood and Delores (Surek) Merry. She had one daughter, Heather, to whom she was very devoted along with her grandson Ashton who was the light of her life. Becky was so many things to so many people.  She loved her family and would be there for any of them if they needed her. Her nieces and nephews loved her and she loved them. Becky took great pride in them and their accomplishments.

Eugene Ernest Eugene Ernest dancing at Bryce’s wedding. Gene Ernest was known as many things – Navy vet, business manager, husband, father and grandfather; sailor, golfer, bowler, runner, biker, paddle sportsman, camper, competitive swimmer, community volunteer and more. But most people knew him as Captain Gene. Gene took his final voyage Dec. 18th, dying in Rockport surrounded by family members following a very brief illness. Eugene Ernest was born May 26, 1931, the eldest child of Charles E. and Alva (Holgren) Ernest, in Hackensack, N.J. He grew up in the Bronx and later in Staten Island’s West Brighton neighborhood, graduating from Curtis High School; and joined the Navy in 1951.
