could be a good year for napa valley. grape growers have an early harvest on their hands. what does that mean for the quality of the wine on your table? kgo s wayne friedman finds out. reporter: if an expert were to guess the date only by looking at grapes ripening on vines, he or she would likely say it is august even based on what we are seeing in july. have you ever heard the word verasian. the turning of color and signals ripening. reporter: here you see it. some still green. others turning red. according to tom davies who runs this winery in napa county, this is warning bell of the start of of a countdown to a harvest that may begin three weeks earlier this year all due to the weather. if we have an earlier harvest for north coast it is a good thing. because this is a cooler climate area. so, if we can get the grapes in sooner then we are not backed up into late october, early november. that s when bad things happen. reporter: an early harvest is
