“Rip’s Run dedicated on Aspen Mt.,” announced the Aspen Times on December 8, 1983. “Rip’s Run on Aspen Mountain was formally dedicated Saturday in the memory of ski racer Rip McManus, a member of the 1964 US Olympic Team. McManus, a familiar Aspen figure who spent much of his time here ever since he spent a winter living and training in Aspen as a member of the US Ski Team, died a year ago in a car accident on the East Coast. Saturday’s ceremony marked the renaming of Midnight Cutoff (which runs from the bottom of Dipsy Doodle) in McManus’ memory.
