they began to set cars on fire and rioted in the streets, at that time, so many questions raised about so many people about what was going on in paris, france. was this allowed to fester and did isis seize this opportunity to inflict this kind of pain and casualties among the fun and loving community in the city of lights. and has france used so many times, did they drop the ball? it s a question that s going to be asked. did they drop the ball and allow this kind of hostility to fester within its own boundaries. you are drawing attention to an important point. we are at the 10th anniversary of those.
had to do with the birth control pill. it was invented in the late 60s. by 1969 6 million women were on the pill. that transformed bodily autonomy and sex and pleasure for the next decade. also down in the west village, what a couple weeks ago when the supreme court made that ruling that all started in the 70s with gay pride, the riots, the marches, that s when it happened. statistic stovall riots were in june of 1969 when police raided the stonewall bar. it was an ugly raid. finally the patrons fought back protested, rioted. that led to gay pride marches. it wasn t until the 1970s that the american psychological association even took homosexuality of its official list of diseases. you have this confluence related to sexual identity and the roles and relationship between men and women in society.
the people in baltimore who rioted and burned down buildings. they were thugged. the people in waco who shot people are thugs. it has nothing to do with being black or white. i still think number one people are going out of the word now in response to the show. but it s not inherently a racialized phrase. you have to look at context. we ve got to let these guys talk. go ahead. like what is that a question? i mean do you think it s fair to compare this to compare waco between baltimore and ferguson. do you think it s fair to compare that? i think it s always fair to analyze whether or not we re using comparable measures of whatever however people behave. so if people are behaving in a way that is uncivil, we need to we always check to see if we are treating those people the same sort of way. so whether or not you call that person a thug here or in waco or not, let s just make sure that that application that the application of those words are
when you say no peace. did that create martin luther king said no justice no peace. okay. i would be uncomfortable that that s a violent statement. justice is always a precondition of peace. if people don t get justice, they will march. they will protest. they will stop highways. all of that is not being peace informal the traditional sense. that s peaceful protests. that is peaceful. the no justice no peace is what is clogging the highways. they weren t shooting police officers. i define it as violence. no justice, no peace? i hear violence in that. which is often why the people who are marching on highways without guns were being attacked by police officers because of that mentality. when did that happen? when i was in ferguson it happened many times. we were tear gassed, trampled. no one had any we haves. i was there. there was rioting, though. not in the places where i was, no. it s not true. i m not saying no one rioted. but that wasn t the overall case.
