According to police,
The investigation revealed a small fire had been lit in the parking lot of the business. It appeared a cigarette pack had been lit on fire with an accelerant. The fire was extinguished by the Rio Grande Fire Department.

Police say there was no damage to the building or anything else on the property.
The Cape May County Fire Marshall’s Office responded to the scene and assisted the Middle Township Major Crimes Unit with the investigation.

MIDDLE TWP., New Jersey (WPVI) Two Middle Township, New Jersey police officers are being hailed as heroes for saving a sleeping couple and their dog in a house fire last weekend.
It happened Saturday, March 13, around 5:50 a.m. on the 100 block of Holly Drive in the Rio Grande section of the township.
When officers arrived on the scene, flames could be seen shooting from the roof of the two-story home, as seen from video captured by the Rio Grande Fire Company.
Two adults and a 4-year-old child, who were second-floor tenants, were able to escape the blaze, but officers learned that an 83-year-old man, a 72-year-old woman and their dog were inside sleeping on the first floor.
