GAINESVILLE, Fla. Rev. Delbert J. King, retired United Methodist Pastor formerly of Bristolville and Braceville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, at his home in Gainesville, Fla., from complications of Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia. He was 79.
He was born in Mesopotamia to Katie and Ernest King.
He grew up in Bristolville, then the family moved to Braceville where Delbert graduated from Braceville High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Rio Grande College (Ohio). After marrying the former Maureen Hoynos, they moved to Gainesville, Fla.. and he earned his Master of Divinity degree from the Chandler School of Theology, Emory University. He served many churches in the North Central Florida district of the United Methodist Church. He served on various communities in the district over the years. A memorable trip to the Holy Land with his daughter and pastor friend was the highpoint of his walk with the Lord.
