A stable Wi-Fi connection is necessary to alert you (and the professional monitoring center) of problems at home. In the event of an internet outage, the Ring Alarm System will automatically connect to a cellular backup system as long as youâre enrolled in a paid Ring Protect Plus plan. The base station has a built-in battery life (up to 24 hours) that will immediately take over if you lose power.

As you can see above, it s not exactly subtle (it s around 24cm or 9.25 inches square) and while that is, of course, the point you might not want something so striking on the outside of your home. You can customise the lighting and set up in the Ring app , however.
The five-piece kit for the Ring Alarm 2nd generation is also getting a wider launch - as we mentioned, it was launched in the US previously.

The Ring Alarm has been one of our favourite DIY alarm systems since it launched last year, but there were a couple of minor issues that the company is looking to fix with the launch of the Outdoor Siren and 2nd Generation Alarm.

First, the Outdoor Siren, which is compatible with the new and old alarm systems, is very welcome in the UK market. Not only does the Outdoor Siren give would-be-thieves a clear sign that your home is alarmed, but it’s also more likely to attract attention if it’s triggered.
