Rihanna to launch Fenty brand Black haircare product line

Last modified on Sat 13 Mar 2021 11.15 EST Rihanna appears to be looking to launch a new brand – Fenty Hair – to capitalise on the growing Black haircare market in the US. On Thursday, her company Roraj Trade LLC filed an application for “Fenty Hair”. According to the document filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the brand would produce shampoo, hair straightening items, hair waving preparation products, bleaching and coloring products as well as hair glitter. Despite last month’s closure of Rihanna’s ready to wear fashion label, Fenty, the other branches of her fashion and beauty empire continue to flourish. Fenty Hair follows Fenty Beauty (the cosmetics label was launched in September 2017) and Fenty Skin (specializing in skincare and made available in July last year), both of which were seen as democratising the beauty industry.

Supermodels emerge as the next batch of beauty brand founders

Supermodels emerge as the next batch of beauty brand founders MAR 03, 2021 On Wednesday, DTC skin-care brand Covey debuted with three products: a moisturizer, a vitamin C serum and a cleanser, priced between $29 and $59. Co-founded by supermodel Emily DiDonato and Google executive Christina Uribe, Covey is the latest in a smattering of supermodel-founded beauty brands. The emergence of supermodels as the next batch of beauty founders is based on the convergence of a few factors. The first, and perhaps most obvious, is that consumers are likely to buy into a beauty brand by a professionally beautiful woman. But beyond that, people of all types who often operate in front of a camera are taking ownership over their imagery, and expanding beyond the traditional bounds of their modeling or acting occupations.

Iman on Building an Empire and Why She Dismisses the Word Icon Barry Samaha © Ugg A first look at the fashion and beauty icon s campaign for the cozy footwear company. In an era when wearing oversized sweats is standard, Iman has characteristically done things differently. The Somalia-born model, businesswoman, philanthropist, and veritable fashion legend (a true powerhouse) has spent her time in quarantine in a stream of chic outfits with a full beat, no less on her Instagram account. It’s not surprising, seeing as she was a muse of Thierry Mugler and Yves Saint Laurent; the face of her own beauty empire, Iman Cosmetics; and a recipient of the CFDA Fashion Icon Award. But what many may not expect from one of the most glamorous women in the world is that she wears Uggs. Beyond that, she is even starring in the footwear company’s latest campaign.
