How to get into the flow state (and achieve optimal well-being)
I recently heard that the moment lasts two or three seconds. It’s here, and then it’s gone. It’s back! Oh, it’s gone again. Time it’s elusive, barely noticeable, but I’ve had those weird, enlightening experiences where time slows down – that space
flow state.
Known to psychologists Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, defines the state of flow as “the optimal state of consciousness in which we feel our best and do our best”. Notice how consciousness it is without “oneself.” On the flow state
activity. To get there, you need to be fully immersed in what you are doing.
The power of body neutrality and how it can free you from yourself
Personally, I have been dealing with the positivity movement of the body. While I appreciate the effort made to focus on marginalized bodies, emphasizing that all bodies deserve love and respect, I still feel that we are focusing too much
how we see it. On the other hand, the increase in the neutrality of the body has a great echo. The way he confronts someone body image, I love the idea of focusing on functionality and connectivity.
Like many, body image has been a big part of my career. I played high level tennis for 15 years and as a result I created a body that created a lot of praise from my classmates and competitors. When I got to UVA, injuries and life obstacles arose, which eventually affected my overall health, including my weight. I didn’t train for six hours a day and my teenage years were passing quickly. However, at one time I had a clean and radiant body in my head that was clean. My new bod

Our Editors Share the Incredible Lessons From Mom
The lessons we learn from our moms stand the test of time. I have a dishtowel that reminds me every day:

Every story looks different. We should cherish all of them. For the moms who carried their troubles and burdens with grace; who sacrificed their dreams and desires with humility; who smiled and danced despite the pain. For the daughters who suffered abandonment, grieved loss; carried a weight that wasn’t their own, and thrived anyway. For moms and daughters who remained close, protected their bond and prevailed with devotion. For my own mom; for raising her daughters with strength, honesty, affection; for making life fun, adventurous, wild; for stroking our hair at night and singing James Taylor in the morning; for carrying her burdens a
What is Candida? An expert shares the cause and how to treat it
I did a candida wash last summer. I suffered for many in my 20s GI issues and discomfort – sometimes to the point of an ER visit. I tried a variety of different diets, supplements and routines from vegan to FODMAPS to Whole30. Looking back, I felt significantly better when I was eating less sugar, carbohydrates, and alcohol (all candida auxiliaries). My symptoms worsened significantly a couple of years ago. I experienced horrible symptoms, sometimes to the point of immobility. The worst was extreme bloating in the evenings (apparently almost everything was headed) and eczema flares on the neck and arms. Eventually I looked for a functional medicine doctor and after taking the doctor OATS test, I was diagnosed with dysbiosis, an imbalance in the intestinal microflora (or excessive growth of yeast).
