A seven-year-old Marlborough boy who saved his young sister from drowning now has a golden superhero cape 28 May 2021 Riley Drummond s received an ASB Super Saver Bravery Award - and the cape - at Waikawa Bay School in Picton. His mother Mel says he s a hero, but remains traumatised by what might have happened. In April Riley dived down to rescue his five year-old sister Ella - who was motionless at the bottom of a public swimming pool. His father performed CPR, assisted by off-duty nurses, until she was revived. St John says Riley shows that young children can save lives.

Riley’s mother Micah Drummond says, She is very much in control of her care. She knows all of her medications. She questions everything, wants to know why. Drummond was born with congenital heart defects. In July she had a bicycle accident that bruised her up and chipped her tooth. Drummond began to feel sluggish. Her family thought maybe the 10-year-old was having growing pains, but Riley Drummond knew something was up.

Diana F. (Christopher) Majka Diana F. (Christopher) Majka, 79, of Dunkirk, N.Y., died Thursday night, Dec. 24, 2020, at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, N.Y., following a short illness. She was born May 13, 1941, to the late Daniel and Mildred (Logan) Christopher. A lifelong resident of the Dunkirk/Fredonia area, Diana graduated from Fredonia High School and later worked locally at Ceases Bakery, M. Wile Company, and Ultrapak, where she retired from her position as shipping and receiving clerk. On October 8, 1983, Diana married Joseph Majka. Her two granddaughters were her pride and joy. She would never miss a chance at showing friends their latest pictures that she proudly kept updated in her wallet. Diana enjoyed watching them play sports and loved attending all of their softball games and swim meets. Dianna also enjoyed trying her luck at scratch off tickers, taking trips to the casino and rooting for the LA Raiders football team.
