The Southeastern Lady Suns proved that they could be competitive with some of the best volleyball powers in the area when they hosted the Quincy-Notre Dame Lady Raiders on Tuesday night, April 6th, at Augusta. They fought toe-to-toe against QND, keeping fans on the edges of their seats throughout much of the evening before finally bowing in straight sets.
The first set gave fans a good taste of what was to come. After conceding the opening point to the Lady Suns, QND managed to get the upper hand early, but not by much. Early in the set, the margins were at a single point or two. For much of the set, it became a point switching duel. But powerful hitting from the Lady Raiders, especially from the front line, gradually took its toll. A number of Southeastern hitting errors became a deciding factor of the first set before QND claimed a 25-18 win.
