no pressure for you to run? no. reporter: so, that s the story, jose. all eyes on paul ryan. he literally has the house gop conference in the palm of his hand. until he makes a call, they are frozen in place. john boehner told his members this morning he ll stay on as long as necessary, whether that means through the end of the month or beyond. but until ryan makes a call, i think we re just going to have to wait this one out. yeah. and steve, give us an overview of what this means for the republican party and how you see it potentially being resolved. i guess paul ryan is front and center in this. yeah, well, obviously, the full court press is on paul ryan. he s got the right of first refusal here, but there s a reason why he has consistently, not just in this moment, but in other moments when his name has been bandied about to be the house speaker, why he has consistently said he doesn t want this, and i think he sees a trap here. he sees the trap that sort of got john boeh
these days, and on top of being dehydrated, you know, i fell and had a concussion. but, you know, that happens, unfortunately, all too often to people, and i ve certainly gained a great deal of knowledge and sympathy for people who go through that, whether it s on the athletic field or the battlefield or in your bathroom, as it was for me. in 2012, in december, you told my friend, barbara walters, you had no intention for running for president. right. it sounded familiar, so we looked it up, in december of 2001, you told tim russert you had no intention of running for president. and i didn t. so things change. but do you feel that joe biden, as the vice president, as the right of first refusal, as it were, within the party, or is it an open competition if you decide to run? well, american politics is always an open competition, but i have no, you know, no position

not adaptation. that s one thing legal experts say makes this lawsuit difficult to win. difficult to win for whom? the plaintiff? yeah. the plaintiff. the screen writer says i appreciate everything this brave hero has done and i totally understand why he relates to the movie, to this character in the movie. in fact, this is a fixctionalizd account of what i ve done. legal experts say it s tough to win this lawsuit because we have constitutional rights to retell stories. and a lot of other people playing the same role in the war with iraq as well. that s exactly right. we won t debate that here right now. let s get to oscar over the years has been the subject of legal controversy. that s right. the academy works really hard to protect the statue and its rights ands the name and the event pl you ll see from time to time they ll sue people. to me one of the more interesting lawsuits is if you win an oscar, alex, you re required to if you ever want to sell the oscar offer it to
his office. they had no comment at all and wouldn t talk to me at all about it. americans united for separation of church and state got involved and wrote a letter to representative stupak telling him this was unconstitutional. the next day he withdrew the legislation and put in new legislation that would sell the property at fair market value but would give the church the right of first refusal to buy it at fair market value. i should say this. i don t think that representative stupak is particularly he is certainly not a religious right ideologue. he is a fairly moderate guy. the one big issue for him is abortion. when it comes to gay rights for example he has a 63% lifetime rating from the human rights campaign. that s not terrible. he only has a 53% lifetime rating from the christian coalition. i don t think it s fair to paint him as a religious right idealogue. that s not what he is. he is a fairly moderate guy. but abortion is the one issue that really gets his dander up and th
