tobacco and firearms are sending their experts, the fbi is sending their bomb technicians in case they re needed. and they re there to assist local law enforcement. so it s really in the hands of the local police at this point. this area, you know, is dotted with federal buildings all over here. this is not one. it s a privately owned commercial building. it s in the hand of local police. a freelance news and documentary producer, jillian, are you there? yes, i m here. what can you tell me? what do you know about this situation? well, about 1:00 when i was just heading to go to the lobby to get some lunch, they started sending us up the elevator to get away from what they said was
about the receptionist and the security guard that usually sit down there. so we re trying to find out what s going on with them. that s kind of where we re at. and i know you re trying to get some information and you re also a witness here to at least some part of this story this breaking news start. let me go back again to what it looks like when you enter that building itself. as you mentioned, there s a security officer and a receptionist there. is there anything else that would keep someone from getting past that point, say, a locked door that you would need an entry card or something to get past that point? there is, actually. when you walk into the lobby, you have to have a card or be clicked in to go to the other two buildings or the back of the front build sboogt second one. but, you know, it s if a gunman comes in and holds a security guard or the receptionist hostage, he could have easily gotten swiped through. with all that is still
wrc, the nbc-owned station in the washington, d.c. area, their coverage of after situation. we were listening to tariq warner, a photographer at the scene. clint van zandt is still with me. we heard tariq warner said a woman ran past him screaming. we don t see a lot of activity from the live pictures come into us, but we know the s.w.a.t. team subpoena on the scene at this point. regarding getting some kind of communications going hang on, i m being told hang on for a second. let me go back to the local coverage. they have a witness. they told us it s a gunman in the lobby and for us to lock ourselves in closed offices. then shortly after that, they told us to evacuate through a nearby stairwell and that s all of us came down. what do you make of this? oh, just scared. i don t know what to make of it.
