With some units in Ridgway’s Wetterhorn Homes affordable housing development left unclaimed, the Ridgway school board on July 20 unanimously approved the purchase of one of those homes for $385,000.
Ridgway School District Superintendent Susan Lacy's annual performance review included accolades for her leadership, professionalism and support for not only her staff but the entire school community. The school board finalized the review at its regular meeting March 23 after surveying teachers and support staff and reviewing that feedback. The board conducted Lacy's review in an executive session. Lacy has served as superintendent since 2018, and since then the district has endured a lot of changes and a pandemic. During her tenure, the district used a voter-approved bond to match a state grant for a complete remodel of its elementary school and administration building, a project that is on time and on budget under Lacy's supervision. The project started during the COVID pandemic, a time where schools were pivoting constantly, sometimes daily, to keep up with new state-required protocols and rules around masks and keeping kids in school for instruction.
