Penn Hills officials spoke Monday night about how they’d like to spend an $18 million gift from the federal government.
The money is coming from the $1.9 trillion covid relief bill, known as the American Rescue Plan, recently signed into law.
U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb, D-Mt. Lebanon, announced Penn Hills’ portion of the bill during a meeting with officials March 26.
Penn Hills Manager Scott Andrejchak said during an agenda-setting meeting Monday that the first half of the $18 million will be coming to the municipality as early as May. The rest of the money will be disbursed around this time next year, he said.
N.J. man, 31, killed in Burlington County car crash

A 31-year-old man was killed in a one-vehicle crash in the day after Christmas in Pemberton Township, police said.
Donte Boyer II, 31, of Brown Mills, was driving a 2004 Buick Rendezvous westbound on Lakehurst Road near Ridgeview Avenue in the Brown Mills section of Pemberton on Saturday night around 8:30 p.m. when his car ran off the road and struck a tree, Pemberton Lt. Jay Watters said in a news release
A portion of the tree that the vehicle struck fell on the top of the car, Watters said.
Donte, who was the only person inside the car, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
