Ridgecrest city fiscal impact from COVID-19 low so far

Ridgecrest city fiscal impact from COVID-19 low so far Ridgecrest Daily Independent The city did not see much of an impact from the COVID-19 pandemic during the first half of 2020, according to accountant Ken Pun of the Pun Group during his annual report to the Ridgecrest City Council Feb. 3. Pun’s report covered the second half of calendar year 2019 and the first half of 2020, ending June 30, 2020. This time period would obviously overlap with roughly three and a half months of pandemic shutdowns beginning mid-March 2020. “Based on the audit result and the financial position that was shown for the fiscal year [ending] June 2020 there’s not really much of an impact as of this point,” Pun said. “We have not seen a significant decrease in sales tax or any other tax as of this point.”
