Author: Matt Yurus (12News) Updated: 2:23 PM MST May 8, 2021 CHANDLER, Ariz. The funeral for fallen Chandler Police Officer Christopher Farrar was early Saturday morning. He was fatally struck after police say a suspect exited the 202 at Val Vista, ran into a car dealership and fled in a stolen car. Officer Farrar was an 18 year veteran of the force.  The service was held at Compass Christian Church on 1825 South Alma School Rd. It was open to the public and got underway at 9:00 a.m.

In addition to Farrar and Aranda, three Arizona Department of Public Safety Troopers, an employee of a car dealership, and Altland were all hurt in the incident.  According to the Maricopa County Sheriff s Office, Altland is still in the hospital. He currently faces first-degree murder charges for the death of Farrar.  I thank God every day he s alive When Aranda was injured on Thursday night, there was concern he might not survive.

Gilbert officer recovering after getting hit by suspect driving stolen vehicle By Nicole Garcia and FOX 10 Staff Published  Gilbert officer recovering after getting hit by car during pursuit GILBERT, Ariz. - A Gilbert Police officer continues to recover after he was severely injured last week during a violent pursuit that resulted in the death of a Chandler police officer. Officer Rico Aranda, 27, sustained a serious head injury after he was hit by a suspect driving a stolen car on April 29. Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb said the pursuit began when a deputy tried to pull over a speeding vehicle and reported he d been shot at.
