JettBlast Fest Jett Plastic Recordings is proud to celebrate their tenth anniversary of releasing vinyl in the Motor City with a two-night festival held at the Lager House in downtown Detroit. Jett Plastic, founded in 2012 by Jarrett Koral, has, to date, released over seventy-five vinyl records, all self-funded, and most by Detroit artists.
A consortium of Detroit musicians are giving back for the holidays with Songs That Got Me Through It, Vol. 1, a new EP benefiting the Pope Francis Center, a metro Detroit homeless shelter. Organized by Sponge s Vinnie Dombroski when the group s annual benefit shows for the Center were canceled for the COVID-19 pandemic, the set includes the band s rendition of Iggy Pop s I Won t Crap Out along with covers of Bob Seger s Sunspot Baby by the Orbitsuns, the Mutants So American by Ricky Rat Pack, Rodriguez s Only Good For Conversation by the Hard Lessons, Bettye LaVette s My Man, He s a Loving Man by Jennifer Westwood and the Handsome Devils, Wilson Pickett s In the Midnight Hour by the Romantics Mike Skill and Sherri Taylor s He s the One That Rings My Bell by the Firewalkers.
