RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - A man who shot a woman in the face on Interstate 24 in Rutherford County two years ago was convicted in court late last month. The shooting occurred at the 76 mile marker, which is the Medical Center Parkway exit in Murfreesboro.
Assistant District Attorney Trevor Lynch told WGNS the victim was shot in the head on March 6, 2021. Ms. (Rickiya) Compton was 19 at the time of the shooting.

UPDATE:What was thought to be a road-rage incident in Rutherford County this past weekend, was actually a targeted crime.
One suspect was charged with attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly shot a La Vergne woman Saturday on Interstate 24, Rutherford County Sheriff’s detectives said Monday.
Eye-witness Carl Bauer told WGNS NEWS.
The suspect allegedly fired upon the victim from the window of a Cadillac.
As for the victim, Detective Joseph Duncan said that 19-Year old Rickiya Compton was listed in critical but stable condition Monday. Duncan, who is with the Rutherford County Sheriff s Office, is the lead investigator.

Captain Brad Petty was driving on I-24 East in Rutherford County Saturday afternoon with his family, heading home from his sonâs wrestling tournament in Lebanon. As he approached the I-840 exit, he noticed a man on the side of the road jumping up and down and appearing to be in distress.
