Men s DI Roundup: LaCalandra, Cole Lead Standout NEC Performances; Conference Rundown

In a meeting of two of the top teams in the NEC, Saint Joe’s left no doubt, winning 13-5. Zach Cole went 20-of-22 at the face-off X, surpassing 400 wins on his career, and Evan Campbell (3G, 2A) led Hawk scoring. Saint Joe’s as decisive from start to finish, moving into sole possession of first place in the NEC at 6-0 (6-3 overall). That was a well-earned victory over a very good lacrosse team, said coach Taylor Wray. Every time you play the Bryant Bulldogs, you know you are going to be in for a really physical, highly-contested game. I thought our defense played terrific and executed the game plan well. The face-off game was highly tilted in our favor, which stopped Bryant from making their traditional runs, and we made some plays in transition that allowed us to separate. Evan Campbell was terrific on both ends of the field today, Josh Bosher had his best game of the season, and Zach Cole returns to form at the face-off. The ACC is unique in that it doesn’t have an automatic qualifier, but with the strength of each team and the competition they face, they’re most likely all going to land in the NCAA Tournament. And, they’ve proven to be some of the most exciting games all season.

Men s DI Roundup: Vermont Tops UAlbany; Mark Leads LIU s Historic Win; Delaware s CAA Rout

They proved all that right in a 14-12 win at No. 14 UAlbany. Very proud of these Cats for getting their first win at UAlbany, said coach Chris Feifs in a release. We know there is still much to improve from our performance today but happy with the grit we showed to dig in against a very talented UAlbany team. Liam Limoges and Ryan Cornell especially rose to the challenge and were outstanding today for us. Back to work on Monday for NJIT. For Vermont, it showed some key things: First, Michael McCormack’s continued emergence as a threat. The Middlebury transfer stretches the field for Vermont, and he started the scoring in a back-and-forth opening section to the game. He continued with two goals and two assists.
