Utica College Announces Top Students from Class of 2021

Congratulations to this year’s valedictorian and salutatorians, and all the graduates of UC’s Class of 2021! Despite an unusual and new style of school year, the Utica College Class of 2021 has made it to the finish line. On top of all the regular stressors of college, plus a pandemic, three students have achieved the ultimate feat of valedictorian and salutatorians. This year s valedictorian is Anastasia Shikula, a biology major who earned a 4.0 GPA. Shikula is from Schuyler, N.Y., and graduated from Whitesboro High School. After graduation, she plans to attend Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Elmira. Her goal is to become a primary care physician.

Tri County COVID Update For May 10 With Vaccination Clinics Looking at COVID-19 case numbers reported by The Otsego County Department of Health (5/9): there were 5 new confirmed cases Sunday with 6 people currently hospitalized with complications from the virus.  There are currently 52 known active cases in the county with a total of 60 COVID-19 related deaths. The Health Dept. has a COVID-19 dashboard with daily updates for the latest information. County health officials remind residents that under state guidance, hosting events and gatherings may be subject to the approval of the local health department. If you are holding a nonresidential social event such as a wedding, graduation party or birthday party it is subject to those guidelines. Among those is limiting attendance to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors.
