Annual student art show goes virtual in 2021

NEW BOSTON– The 2021 Scioto County High School Art Show “Visually Literate” was held virtually, displaying 50 pieces of student artwork. The annual event is traditionally held in the Appleton Gallery at the Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio, but was conducted virtually this year because of COVID restrictions.
Artwork was submitted digitally, judging took place over the internet, and an awards presentation was recorded for all the students to watch together with their teachers on April 12. The event is available to watch at https://youtu.be/NlwOPJXT0b8.

Two deserving students, Joel Caniff of Minford High School and McKenna Howard of Wheelersburg High School, each received a $1,000 scholarship to attend the university of their choice where they will be studying music.

NEW BOSTON 2021 Scioto County Honors Music Festival Scholarship Awards – Two deserving students, Joel Caniff of Minford High School and McKenna Howard of Wheelersburg High School, each received a $1,000 scholarship to attend the university of their choice where they will be studying music.
The scholarships are awarded annually as part of the Scioto County Honors Music Festival, and while the festival did not take place this year due to pandemic restrictions, the South Central Ohio Educational Service Center was still able to award music scholarships.
