Manhattan: I strongly urge every responsible New Yorker to do his or her own research before entering the voting booth on Tuesday. GOP darling and Donald Trump acolyte Lee Zeldin is out on the campaign trail desperately trying to paint himself as a moderate Republican when that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Point Pleasant, N.J.: Voicer Karen Cirillo makes an excellent point. Italian-Americans should be proud of our heritage and we should do everything possible to end the negative stereotyping of those of us of Italian descent.
Manhattan: In response to the article “N.Y. to take stand as Roe end looms” (May 11): I am a semi-retired physician. Most of my years in training (1965-1975) preceded Roe v. Wade. I remember as a student in city hospital emergency rooms seeing many young women of color presenting profoundly ill and septic as a consequence of an illegal, incomplete abortion. Half of those women died.
Manhattan: Re “The page is turned” (editorial, March 10): Public libraries are a bedrock of our democracy sites of opportunity and learning, open to all, that store and share our collective histories, knowledge and creativity. As public institutions, our libraries need champions. No one will be a better champion for the Queens Public Library and its 66 neighborhood branches than Jimmy Van Bramer.
