Australian Richard Pusey has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for filming and gloating over four dying police officers after a fatal crash last year.
Judge Trevor Wraight described his actions as “heartless, cruel and disgraceful during the sentencing hearing on Wednesday.
“A normal human reaction… would likely be to immediately telephone triple zero (the emergency services),” the judge said. “What you did, however, was film the scene with a running commentary.”
The 42-year-old, who was described as “Australia’s most hated man” by judges during a previous hearing, has already spent almost 300 days in jail. That time will count against the sentence he has been given, Judge Wraight said, meaning he has almost served the full 10 months already.

International mystery solved as seven-metre drone washes up in Victoria
A long-standing mystery has been solved after a seven-metre drone lost at sea for two years between Antarctica and South America has washed up on a Victorian beach.
Waratah Marine Search and Rescue (MSAR) members were called out on Monday after an Unidentified Floating Object appeared on the sand at the Waratah Bay Surf Beach. After checking for any extra-terrestrials, MSAR have since been able to confirm that the vessel is in fact a research sail drone, Life Saving Victoria said in a statement.

A man has been jailed for 10 months for offences including the “heartless, cruel and disgraceful” filming of four dead and dying police officers who had just been hit by a truck on a major Australian road.
Richard Pusey, a 42-year-old mortgage broker, had earlier pleaded guilty in the Victoria state county court to a charge of outraging public decency over his commentary in crash scene videos he shot with his phone.
It is the first time the charge had been prosecuted in the state since 1963.
