Manitowoc school referendum passes, Soeldner, Braunel elected to board

MANITOWOC - Stacey Soeldner and Collin Braunel will join incumbents Kerry Trask and Lisa Johnston on the Manitowoc School Board after being voted in during Tuesday s election. The unofficial final tally showed Soeldner with 4,595 votes, Trask with 4,145 votes, Braunel with 3,412 votes and Johnston with 3,242 votes. Those who did not make it on the board were Aaron Erdman, Timothy Reis, Rhonda Neumann and Richard Nitsch, who had 3,063, 2,794, 2,523 and 2,507 votes, respectively.  The results will not be finalized until after the canvassing boards confirm the counts later this week. A referendum for an additional $4.3 million in spending for the Manitowoc Public School District was approved Tuesday 4,812 voted yes and 3,337 voted no.

MANITOWOC SCHOOL DISTRICT REDERENDUM Be It resolved by the Board of Education of the Manitowoc Public School District, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin (the District ) that pursuant to 121.91(3) of the Wisconsin Statutes, the District exceed the revenue limit established under Section 121.91(2m) of the Wisconsin Statutes on a non-recurring basis in the amount of $4,300,000 annually for each of the school years 2021-2022, 2022-2023, and 2023-2024 for the purposes of the operational needs of the School District as determined by the School Board from time to time.  Question:  Shall the foregoing resolution of the School Board of the Manitowoc Public School District be approved?

Unofficial Spring Primary Election Results Show Change is on the Horizon in Manitowoc

Unofficial results pending the canvass of votes later this week show Incumbent Aaron Bailey finished third in a three-way primary against challengers Tim Boldt and Scott Pelot. Boldt and Pelot advance to the Spring General Election with 96 and 55 votes respectively while Bailey garnered 50. In District Three, Thresa Collins was the top vote-getter with 109 votes. Michael Cummings finished second with 73 votes and Angela Myers was third with 65 votes. Collins and Cummings advance to the Spring General Election on April 6 th. Ten candidates were on the ballot to serve on the Manitowoc Public School Board with the top 8 moving on to the General Election. Kerry Trask tallied 1295 votes to win the primary. Stacy Soeldner was a close second with 1230 votes.
