Dalton nearly starred in an entirely different 007 film when he first stepped into the role. A new report explains how the actor’s first film as Bond, The Living Daylights, had a number of scripts proposed before the final one was settled on to be shot as the film we know today. In the first script, written by Richard Maibaum and Michael G Wilson, Dalton was set to explore how the legendary spy first learned his deadly trade - but it also revealed that he had gambled away his family money.

For quite some time, the lore behind Timothy Daltonâs exit from the James Bond franchise has been centered around one film. As the story goes, an adaptation of the Ian Fleming short story âThe Property of a Ladyâ was mentioned to be the third 007 adventure that would have seen Dalton in the tuxedo. But, as history and some new discoveries have proven, this assumption was actually false. Surprisingly, there were three unmade James Bond movies that could have given the actor more of a substantial foothold in the James Bond franchise, and each of them went on to influence the series after he left.
Speaking with Total Film, the 60-year-old said: “It will have to be reimagined, in the way each actor has reimagined the role.
“That’s what is so exciting and fun about this franchise; the character evolves. Eventually, when we have to think about it, we’ll find the right person.”
Promoting his new book The Lost Adventures of James Bond, 007 expert Mark Edlitz told Express.co.uk of why he believes the producers will push the boundaries once again.
On the Bond movie writing process, he said: “Three-time Bond screenwriter Bruce Feirstein told me that Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson know where the dead ends are in the scripting stage.”

Here we go yet again. While it’s yet to be officially announced, a fifth delay for Daniel Craig’s final James Bond movie is now looking extremely likely. With the pandemic on-going, even the 2020 releases that moved to 2021 are probably going to have to move again, especially if they’re set to arrive in cinemas before the summer. Sony have already moved their Jared Leto Marvel movie Morbius to October from March.
