West Elgin council has started the annual task to approve spending for the upcoming year.
During its last committee of the whole meeting, senior staff unveiled nearly $4.8 million worth of capital projects within a proposed $14.1 million municipal budget for 2021.

Some items are carried over from 2020 when a number of repairs and purchases faced delays due to the pandemic.
Major capital projects planned this year include rebuilding Graham Road in downtown Rodney.
The roadway is owned by Elgin County, however the municipality is putting $1.2 million into upgrading underground services and sidewalks as part of the overall project.
