5 years in the making, N.J. town’s career fire department a reality
Updated Jan 02, 2021;
At about 1 a.m. Friday, just an hour into the new year, Hamilton firefighters were dispatched to a reported fire at a home on South Olden Avenue.
It was minor, as firefighting goes, with smoke in the walls, and was extinguished in a matter of moments a pretty routine call.
But it was the first real fire call for the new Hamilton Fire Division, which went into service Jan. 1, 2021. (Technically, firefighters reported at 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve for their first 12-hour shift.)
