Stories. We start with the district eesz 100th homicide this year. Someone shot a man on 54th street in northeast. Police say the man was shot several times and died at the scene. No word on who may have done this or why. Again, this is d. C. S 100th homicide, so far, this year. Thats a 36 spike from the same time last year. In fact, in all of 2014, we saw a total of 105 murders. Developing in the district, a barricade situation in the brooklyn neighborhood. A man locked himself inside a home on 18th street, shot and killed a Family Member, a woman in her 60s. He shot her around 11 00 yesterday morning. Shortly after a Police Negotiator tried to make contact with the suspect. Neighbors say the suspected shooter is a man in his 70s. I dont know if he knew about his next move, but between the theft of the jewelry and having to vacation, i guess thats what it came to. Reporter this situation is still going on. We have a couple blocks away at 18th ant otis. Police set up a perimeter since it started 11 00. A man shot a woman in the street, then ran into a house near the intersection of 18th and otis. No movement inside the house. They have been trying to negotiate with the gentleman to try to talk him off. So far, that has not hopped. Some people have not been able to get to their homes and may have left before the situation started and come back to find out their home is part of a crime scene. Folks in the neighborhood say they both are part of this community here, long time parts of the community and both people are known and it makes it that much more tragic that their interactions turn tragic.
