Less then 24 hours ago, Kermit Police found a trail of blood after gunshots were reported. Once they arrived, they followed the trail that led to Vela, a puppy that was suffered from two bullet wounds.

Attorney Richard Abalos talks recently about his career from his law office in downtown Odessa. Besides practicing law, Abalos has been active in community service. Abalos died this past weekend.Â

Barry Phillips the Elder was looking forward to retirement in 2014 after teaching  art for 43 years at Odessa College. He died last Wednesday.

Three icons of Odessa have died, attorneys Richard Abalos and Lawrence Barber and former longtime Odessa College art professor and artist Barry Phillips the Elder.
They were remembered Monday as stalwart men who practiced their professions in an exemplary manner and who were proud of and loyal to their hometown.
