Applications from local organizations for General Purpose Excise Tax funding for the next fiscal year was an item of discussion at a Sheridan City Council study session Monday night. Mayor Rich Bridger said each funding request will be considered for approval at the Council’s next regularly scheduled business meeting Monday.

Revenue that is generated from the GPET tax, formerly known as the optional one-cent sales tax, is used to facilitate improvements to infrastructure, the parks and pathways, roads and senior services. Local nonprofits and organizations apply for excise tax funding annually to help supplement their operations. The total amount requested by the various organizations was over $1.2 million.
