At a zero-dong shop, a mother found four sets of clothes for her two children within several minutes.
Before going to a parents’ meeting last Sunday, Vu Thi Lan, 49, in Tan Binh district, stopped by the cultural house of Quarter 10 in Ward 15 in HCM City. She wanted to find some clothes for herself.
“I heard some days ago that there is a zero-dong clothing shop where people can go and pick up what they want, but I did not believe it. I only came here after many people confirmed that it exists. I could not imagine that there would be so many beautiful clothes here,” she said.
Hoang Tuan Anh, the creator of the ‘rice ATM’ which dispensed rice to the poor to help them survive the Covid-19 pandemic, is one of the 14 people nominated by VietNamNet as Inspiring Characters.

Karnataka’s first rice dispensing machine or ‘rice ATM’ will come up in one of the slum areas in Bengaluru in the next few months, state Minister for Food and Civil Supplies K Gopalaiah said. Announced in September, the initiative is part of the Centre’s pilot project ‘Annapurti’, that is being implemented in close partnership with the United Nation’s World Food Programme (WFP).
