A German Shepherd puppy who nearly died after swallowing a four-inch kebab stick has amazed vets by surviving for eight weeks with the object inside her.
Ten-month-old Bear needed an urgent operation at Abington Park Veterinary Surgery in Northampton to carefully remove the item after swiping it off a plate at a family barbecue.
Incredibly it narrowly avoided damaging Bear s major organs and was only discovered by owner Richard Davidson, from Kettering, when she started limping after it passed all the way through to her leg.
Thankfully Bear has made a full recovery, but the team at Abington Park say they face a worrying number of such incidents as lockdown restrictions ease.
