Brazil s first homemade satellite will put an extra eye on dwindling Amazon forests | Science

Brazil’s first homemade satellite will put an extra eye on dwindling Amazon forests Feb. 26, 2021 , 1:45 PM The fate of Brazil’s satellite program and the country’s capacity to monitor disappearing Amazon forest will be decided in 17 minutes and 30 seconds on Sunday. When Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro attacked the legitimacy of a report highlighting a dramatic increase in Amazon deforestation, Galvão stood behind the figures, a decision that cost him his job.
