Lima prepares for Arbor Day by talking trees Young trees grow inside and outside the fencing at Lima Stadium Park in Lima on Wednesday. LIMA Lima continues to encourage the growth of trees throughout the city, as it prepares to celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 30. Once again, Lima has been selected as a Tree City USA winner from the Urban Forest Council, just as it has for 30-plus years, said Ric Stolly, the deputy public works director for Lima. The parks department will plant several trees this Friday afternoon on the Lima Senior High School campus, with help from the school’s agricultural education and FFA program. The new trees will be planted just south of the baseball varsity field. Last year, oak trees were planted at Lima Stadium Park.
