We want to heal, and she won t let us : Family, prosecutors again seek justice for Rhoni In addition to being identified as a pregnant girlfriend of former Chicago Bear Shaun Gayle, Rhoni Reuter was a fun aunt and giving person when she was murdered in 2007, says her family. The woman convicted of that murder, Marni Yang, is seeking a new trial. Thad Reuter hugs Lake County prosecutor Patricia Fix after the guilty verdict in 2011 that sent Marni Yang to prison for life for the murder of his pregnant sister, Rhoni Reuter of Deerfield. Daily Herald file photo Landa and Doug Reuter thank Lake County Assistant State s Attorney Ari Fisz in 2011 after Marni Yang was found guilty of murdering their pregnant daughter, Rhoni Reuter of Deerfield.
The brother of Rhoni Reuter said Tuesday the woman convicted of killing his sister should “accept the consequences for (her) action” rather than seek exoneration through a court process that has now stretched over nearly 18 months.
Attorneys for Marni Yang, convicted of the 2007 murder of the girlfriend of former Chicago Bear Shaun Gayle, want access to the dead woman’s Deerfield condo to take crime scene measurements they say will help corroborate Yang’s claim of innocence.
