Okay, were just about ready to get started here. If everybody could gather round a little bit. My name is olson lee. Im the director of the Mayors Office of housing. And this is a great day, isnt it . Yes, it is. Its a great day. And one of the things about anything that we do in San Francisco is that it does take a whole village, and we have a whole village here. And its about a sense of partnership that we are able to celebrate. And i really want to emphasize celebration, because this is the first phase of the first phase of many projects like this in San Francisco. applause and this is something that is an only in San Francisco development where were rebuilding distressed Public Housing for the current residents, and doing this in a way that is contributes to the neighborhoods. It contributes to the health and welfare of the existing families and invites new families and creates complete neighborhoods. And only in San Francisco are we willing to take on this task to really change th
Is just i mean, i dont know if im going to be able to use this for very long, but as a new supervisor, as someone looking from the outside of the board of supervisors, i wonder why when we develop projects of this magnitude, do you look in a payment at the Affordable Housing fund, why we dont look at how we create Affordable Housing opportunities for potentially people who are going to maybe be working in these developments who are possibly the lowest wage earners of this and how, if were the city is so fortunate to have this 36 million in Affordable Housing, and i think id like to see it impact the surrounding community as it relates to potentially existing Affordable Housing and supporting that. But more importantly, making sure that low wage earners of this particular project has some sort of access to Affordable Housing in the neighborhood. I want us to have people who work in this hospital be a part of the surrounding community and not just commuters from far parts of the city or
Substandard, cpmc must provide cooperation and some additional funding to address these conditions with the city. And lastly, cpmc will use a variety of outreach means at their disposal to encourage their employees to produce excuse me, to purchase a clipper card and will subsidize half the cost of the clipper card for all employees who wish to have one. Moving on to streetscape and Pedestrian Safety, in terms of streetscape and Pedestrian Safety, cpmc will pay the city 4. 25 million for Pedestrian Safety and sidewalk widening in the tenderloin, 200,000 to fund a safe passage Pilot Program in the tenderloin, and 1. 55 million for transit and safety improvements in the neighborhoods directly adjoining the Cathedral Hill campus. In addition, cpmc will pay 3 million to the city for enforcement and Traffic Safety improvements around the pacific and california campuses. Around st. Lukes and davies, the agreement calls for cpmc to build a specified program of improvement themselves along wit
But what im looking for as someone of district 5 who had received a number of commitments of the Western Addition, whether there would be significant Job Opportunities and also training for those opportunities. I need to know how this is actually going to translate to support for Western Addition residents. And i think that with the close proximity of what we are looking at, it only makes sense that significant outreach would be done to this particular community to cut back on the commute times to anyplace else in the city. A we see from the Environmental Impact report, were impacting in particular the 19 bus line which is already a really slow bus line and goes all the way to the southeast sector. And were looking at delays in that particular bus line. So, in terms of the Environmental Impacts of this particular plan is why its so important to me that we look in the surrounding community and they receive an opportunity to participate in this project in some capacity. So, id like to ma
In looking at this effort. I have the honor today to introduce mayor ed lee who has made equality the cornerstone of his career. As a civil rights lawyer, he sued the Housing Authority to improve the standards of living for Public Housing tenants. And he also sued the Fire Department so women and people of color could get equal opportunity. As the director of this citys human rights commission, he expanded contracting opportunities for women and people of color. And today as mayor, he makes sure our City Government reflects the diversity of this great city. On monday we were together, as i mentioned earlier, i College Track on 3rd street in bayview where the mayor give his state of the city address. His administrations focus is on creating jobs, making sure that all of our residents have access to those jobs,st and from local hireness and job readiness, training and placement, we are moving towards equality for all with the mayors leadership. Ladies and gentlemen, id like to introduce
