Ohio BWC Secures 7 Fraud-Related Convictions in February

03/14/21 WorkersCompensation.com Columbus, OH (WorkersCompensation.com) - A doctor who ran a pill mill in Dayton and the owner of a massage parlor in Medina were among seven Ohioans convicted or sentenced in February on workers compensation fraud or related charges. Morris Brown, M.D., 73, was sentenced Feb. 8 to two years in prison after investigators with the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) and other state and federal authorities discovered his involvement in an opioid ring. Brown was convicted in February last year, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice. “I m proud of our Special Investigations Department for its role in bringing this criminal activity to an end,” said BWC Interim Administrator/CEO John Logue.

briefs: Fairfield County District Library reopens workers comp fraud

Fairfield County District Library reopens all branches The Fairfield County District Library has reopened each of its branch locations to the public, according to a media release.  Visitors who utilize in-person services will be able to browse selections, pick-up holds, return materials, and use copiers and printers. Visitors will also be able to use computers with a one-hour limit. Curbside services will still be available, as well.  According to the Library, anyone over the age of 10 will be required to wear a face covering while visiting any of the branch locations. Capacity, services, and seating will be limited, and customers are asked to limit their time inside to no more than an hour.
