CHAMPION Shirley A. Vesey, 86, of Champion, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at her home.
She was born Nov. 20, 1934, in Dayton, Pa., the daughter of the late Berton and Genevieve Rummel Mauk.
Shirley graduated from Shannock Valley High School and moved to Warren with her family in 1955. Her first employment was with the Union Savings and Trust Company. During the 1960s and 1970s, she worked in retail sales including as an assistant manager at a local shoe store. In the 1990s, she received her Ohio Nurses Assistant certification for home health care. Shirley served as a trustee of Champion Senior Housing Inc., Woodland Meadows. She was an active member of the Wildare United Methodist Church, serving in various capacities. Her hobbies and interests included music, crafts, crocheting, traveling, nature and spending time with her grandchildren.

Trustees:
⢠Approved Bugos as liaison to the Champion schools to negotiate having a Champion police officer as a school resource officer. Currently, the SRO is from the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office;
⢠Approved returning a stop sign to the intersection of Nutwood Avenue and Republic Street to slow down traffic;
⢠Sent a letter to owners of Champion Skate to get the debris from the building cleaned up and removed. The rink caught fire in late December 2019 with a cause not yet determined;
⢠Appointed Jennifer Kusmierek to fill the unexpired term of Linda Cain on the zoning board of appeals through December 2023;
