Rheinmetall Waffe Munition’s Fronau branch has delivered the 300th multi ammunition softkill system (MASS) to the Finnish Navy. Rheinmetall’s MASS family of systems are designed to protect ships and boats from various threats when conducting missions in the high seas, littoral zones, and open oceans. Suitable for installation on any warship model, MASS can be easily incorporated into a current combat management system (CMS). It can also be operated as a standalone system.

Denel is in a joint venture with German company Rheinmetall Waffe Munition and provides ammunition through the joint venture to countries like Saudi Arabia, who are involved in the war in Yemen. In a hearing, the SOE on Wednesday briefed Parliament’s finance watchdog Scopa about its operations and annual report. The conflict in Yemen, which has cost thousands of lives, seems to have been good for business for Denel.

Rheinmetall and MBDA win contract for high-energy laser system Germany’s Federal Office for Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has awarded a consortium, or ARGE, consisting of MBDA Deutschland GmbH and Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH a contract to fabricate, integrate and support testing of a laser weapon demonstrator in the maritime environment. The order value is in the low double-digit million euro range. Work will be shared out on a roughly equal basis. MBDA Deutschland is responsible for tracking, the operator’s console and linking the laser weapon demonstrator to the command-and-control system. Rheinmetall is in charge of the laser weapon station, the beam guiding system, cooling, and integration of the laser weapon system into the project container of the laser source demonstrator.
