Members of the judiciary and judicial personnel will enjoy the protection of an independent Philippine Judiciary Marshals Service under a bill approved on third and final reading on Wednesday, June 2 by the House of Representatives.
House Bill 9086 breezed through plenary approval, getting the votes of all 182 congressmen present in the plenary when it was called for third and final reading approval.
Passage of the measure was strongly endorsed by the Committees on Justice and on Appropriations chaired by Reps. Vicente S.E. Veloso (3rd District, Leyte) and Eric Go Yap (ACT-CIS Partylist), respectively.
The bill to be known as the “Philippine Judiciary Marshals Service Act” consolidated six different legislative proposals filed by Deputy Speakers Henry Oaminal (2nd District, Misamis Occidental); Rufus Rodriguez (2nd District, Cagayan de Oro City) and Ferdinand L. Hernandez (2nd District, South Cotabato) and Rep. Luis Raymund “LRay” F. Villaf
