Locsin tweeted his message several minutes after he was informed of the death of Rey Enriquez, a consular assistant at the DFA Consular Office in SM-Manila by Susan “Toots” Ople, founder and president of the Blas Ople Policy Center.
“Oh, God, @susanople just informed me that Rey Enriquez passed away; help did not arrive on time. To his loved ones, my deepest sympathy and regret over their loss. I am so sorry. We failed him,” the DFA secretary said in a tweet.
Enriquez, who once served as a driver to former DFA Secretary Blas Ople, died on Saturday evening in a Cabanatuan City hospital.
