How the Legalisation of Marijuana will adapt the Economy, James Vandrau After the mass controversy over the legalization (in 15 states) and decriminalization (in 16 states) of cannabis for recreational use in the United States of America most notably circa 2018, many other countries – most recently Mexico in the last few weeks – and governments have seen rise in protests and partaking in the annual Global Marijuana March. This mass requisition has spiralled throughout an array of newspapers and news outlets leaving one thought on everybody’s mind – how will the legalization impact a country’s economy? One of the first developments stemming from the legalization of cannabis would be the introduction of a cannabis tax. During the economic period where marijuana was illegal, revenue to the marijuana market added nothing to official figures for the country it was being sold in. However, despite no official figures, the market would still heavily profit from the selling of
