wilkins who has the latest on the investigation. we are overlooking the pentagon where the investigation is still continuing at this moment. they re still trying to piece together a timeline. they re not releasing how the gunman got to the pentagon. they don t know if he took the subway or if he walked over to the pentagon, but they are learning a lot more about this. there is no indication at this point that there are any domestic or international terrorism facets tohis at all. at this time it appears to be a single individual that had issues. reporter: john patrick bedell, a well-dressed and seemingly calm man, approached the pentagon from the metro entrance. officers thought he was going for his id to enter the pentagon, but he pulled out a gun. he was very calm. there was no distress in his appearance. he walked very directly to the officers and engaged. reporter: bedell was shot in the head during the exchange of gunfire. he was transported to george washington
