that s so disturbing. what are you telling your daughters after yesterday. fortunately nothing happened but still as you point out, it can be retraumatizing for young people that are going through the pandemic, almost the start of year three, michigan school shooting happened recently, it is so much for these young people and for the teachers and administrators of schools. it is so much for these young people, on top of covid and on top of the stress of our life today. my thinking is informed by public health professionals, people like nancy kisland, wrote a book about impact of lockdown drills on kids. a big role parents have to play is open communication with children, talking to them about fears that they have, pushing their school districts if they are doing things like lockdown drills to be sure they call them
saying they didn t know that the prosecutor was going to announce these charges. but the fact that these two individuals were not taken into custody immediately, that the police did not know their whereabouts, and that, you know, at a certain point during this evening, they still didn t know their whereabouts is quite troubling and i think retraumatizing for this entire community. and areva, i m so glad you mentioned that because that was my first thought, the anguish that these families must continually go through hour after hour. areva martin for us, thank you so much. appreciate your insights. thank you, paula. i was just talking about how traumatizing this has been. i want to remind everyone of the victims in this tragedy. they are four teenagers that had their life ahead of them. you see them there, . we do not want to lose sight of the fact that there are families in a whole heck of a lot of grief right now trying to make sense of this. we will be right back with more news
